Ian Dunlop doesn't hold back.
This clear and forthright article by Ian is a frightening catalogue of the absolute failure of our politicians in their fiduciary responsibility to the people of Australia. Their denial of climate reality is sending us to near term extinction, but do they care? No! They continue to wallow in their "entitlements", awash with political donations and insidious kickbacks.
In the interests of transparency here is Emma Alberici's article on corporate tax cuts that the Prime Minister asked the ABC to remove. His appointed General Manager of the ABC complied by removing the article saying it was opinion not fact (which is rubbish). This action by the PM is abhorant to democracy, amounting to political censorship. Read and make up your own mind.
Need a quick referesher on climate change?
Here is a short and precise explanation of the seriousness of Anthropogenic Global Warming, and consequent disatrous climate change. Only 12minutes 38 seconds - well worth your time.
Stefan Rahmstorf speaks at the 2017 Bonn climate conference, explaining the basics of global climate change, and outlines our current emissions pathway - asking if we can control the climate crisis. The talk is titled Climate Action and Human Wellbeing at a Crossroads: Historical Transformation or Backlash?
Al Gore, in his latest movie, "An Inconvenient Sequel", called for "Truth to Power". I am convinced that thruth to power is wrong. Politicians are so enthralled by the fossil energy industry that they will never listen to the truth on climate change. But when fear of not being reelected confronts them they will act. So, it is TRUTH TO SOCIETY that we need, and we need it NOW.
I have been calling for a new narrative for the past year now, ever since I was told by ACF that it would not support The Climate Emergency Declaration because research has shown that such terms as "emergency", and "war like footing" have a negative impact on society. Academics say that such words turn people off the topic, and that uplifting and positive stories engender better engagement.

On the first of September, 1939, the German military invaded Poland, kicking off World War II. Many Polish people on the new front line were likely unaware of what was befalling them as the first of the Junker bombers pounded them with high explosives, early in the morning.
From wikipedia: “The first regular act of war took place on 1 September 1939, at 04:40, when the Luftwaffe attacked the Polish town of Wieluń destroying 75% of the city and killing close to 1,200 people, most of them civilians.”

Scientific reticence allows politicians to neglect the real dangers we face. But waiting for perfect information means it will be too late to act.
Excellent article by George Monbiot on how the current economic paradifgm is destroying the environment:
The demand for perpetual economic growth, and the collective madness it provokes, leads inexorably to environmental collapse.
