How to deliver a successful light rail project – what Canberra can learn from the USA experience

This presentation will focus on the development of Light Rail Transport systems (LRT) in city environments like Canberra. The talk will particularly examine experiences from developing LRT projects in the USA, from planning, design, construction and on to operation and maintenance. The talk will cover some of the key issues and risks of LRT projects and will consider examples from numerous projects from around the USA, particularly concentrating on the development of the Portland LRT system.
