Water accounting is a systematic process of identifying, recognising, quantifying, reporting, and assuring:

  • information about water
  • the rights and other claims to that water, and
  • the obligations against that water.

This presentation will:

  • Provide an introduction to the standards
  • Explain that the Australia Water Accounting Standards are principle based and provide a structure for the preparation and assurance of General Purpose Water Accounting Reports
  • Outline the objectives of General Purpose Water Accounting Reports
  • Describe the benefits to preparers and users of preparers
  • Explore some of the resources created to support adoption
  • Allow discussion and questions
