Event Details:
The transition to a low emissions electricity industry entails technical, economic and policy challenges. Issues hotly debated include the feasibility of renewables to replace fossil fueled generation and the effectiveness of policy interventions such as the carbon tax, emissions trading, feed-in tariffs and grant tendering schemes. Three speakers will address these topics from different perspectives.
- Patric Hearps, Research fellow at Melbourne Energy Institute, University of Melbourne. Lead author of Zero Carbon Australia Stationary Energy Plan.
- Tristan Edis, Editor, Climate Spectator. Previously research fellow with the Grattan Institute in their Energy Research Program.
- Walter Gerardi, SKM. Expert in economic and strategic analysis of energy and resource industries.
Individual presentations will be followed by a panel session with audience questions and discussion.
