Come along and hear the next term of National policy leaders talk about their sustainability policies for the up coming elections.The candidates from the 3 major parties (Labor, Liberal and Greens) will each present their policy platforms for the next three years with an emphasis on those policies with an engineering focus.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Alannah MacTiernan

Alannah has had a distinguished 17 year career in WA’s State Parliament, both in the Legislative Assembly and Council. She held the key Ministerial portfolio of Planning and Infrastructure between 2001 and 2008. Prior to entering parliament in 1993 she was a partner in the commercial division of a Perth law firm. Alannah has contributed to many areas across the State, being a Perth City Councillor (1988-1994), a Member of the Heritage Council of WA (1990-1996) and a Member for the East Metropolitan region Legislative Council (1993-1996). She is currently the Mayor for the City of Vincent.

Scott Ludlam

Senator Scott Ludlam was elected in November 2007 as an Australian Greens Senator for Western Australia. Scott initiated the first national inquiry into public transport and has been a leading proponent of urban light rail and the benefits of rapid, highly networked anywhere-to-anywhere transit. Scott is the Australian Greens' spokesperson for broadband, communications & the digital economy; housing; nuclear issues; heritage; sustainable cities; and assisting on defence material and resources and energy.

Dr Chris Back

Senator Chris Back was sworn into the Senate of the Australian Parliament in March 2009. In government, he served for ten years, first as CEO of the Rottnest Island Authority and then in the Bush Fires Service of Western Australia. For the decade prior to entering Parliament, Dr Back was a senior executive in the oil & gas sectors, working with industry clients across the world. He was also chair of the Inquiry into "The shortage of engineering and related employment skills" in 2012.

Each speaker will present for 20 minutes. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers and informal discussion over drinks and nibbles.
