Australia is amidst a wildlife health crisis of an unprecedented scale. Since the industrial revolution, a vast array of synthetic chemicals has been manufactured for a wide variety of uses by humans, including supporting increased agricultural production; industrial compounds; and pharmaceuticals for humans and other animals. However, the sometimes-disastrous impacts on the health of exposed biota and productivity of exposed ecosystems are seemingly being largely overlooked.

The Australian Green Infrastructure Council (AGIC) is a member based, not for profit, industry association committed to the delivery of more sustainable performance in the design, construction and operation of Australia's infrastructure. To do this AGIC has developed a national sustainability rating scheme for infrastructure which will be tested on projects beginning in July this year. This workshop will explain the AGIC assessment methodologies including the themes, categories, criteria and benchmarks and discuss some of the results of the project trials.
